URGENT! Are you happy with the imposition of Contract 6? There are a lot of colleagues right now who are worried about what this new contract will mean to them. Are you one of those people? If you are then you are one of many who feel the same way. You may be worried about your health, your caring commitments or your childcare. You may be worried about losing money, or travel arrangements on bank holidays. You may be worried about not being able to go for a coffee with your friends on a Saturday morning or go to bingo on a Tuesday night or even plan a day trip more than 4 weeks in advance. We are here to say that your worries matter. The imposition of this contract affects every single colleague in Asda retail and it will affect each colleague in a different way. Do you think Asda have thought about this? Are they listening to your concerns during your 1-to-1s? Or have they made it clear that they think this is a done deal? Is this a done deal? Any contract change first has to be agreed by both parties. If you have concerns and commitments, Asda should be made aware of them. Always remember that your concerns matter and make sure they are written down. GMB are the union for Asda workers. They represent members in distribution and in retail. The difference between distribution and retail is GMB recognition. In retail, GMB is partially recognised and has consultation rights with Asda. In distribution, GMB are fully recognised with full bargaining rights. This comes comes directly from the high level of GMB membership in distribution. The colleagues in distribution, through the GMB, have been able to negotiate better pay, terms and conditions. There are over 60,000 retail colleagues. That is a lot of people who may not want this contract, why do you feel like you can’t tell them how you feel? After all Asda need you to work in their stores. Do you think they would be more likely to listen to the majority of colleagues who came together to tell them exactly how they felt about this new contract? You may think that you are only one person and you can’t make a difference, but this couldn’t be further from the truth. Every colleague matters, and everyone deserves to have their voice heard. It has never been a better time to join the GMB. We are listening to our members but we need you to join us! We need you to stand together with your fellow colleagues and make yourself heard. This can start with each and every one of you. Talk to your family, talk to other colleagues or leave a comment below. Join the GMB today
